The Swimming Competition
One Sunday morning, my parents brought my brother and I to Keppel Club Annual Swimming Meet. The morning events were for the bigger boys and girls. My brother took part in some of the morning events. He won 2 bronze and one silver medals. Before it was my turn, I swam at the baby pool because the adult pool was occupied. When it was my turn, I told my mother that I wanted to get Gold. Although I didn't win the first event but the other two events I got first! My mother was so proud of me! My aunty and grandfather also came! I got to stand on the prize-giving stand to recieve my two gold medals too! I was on cloud nice for many days!

12 June 2012 Journal entry
During the June holidays, Sara, Qi Hi, Qi Ying and I went to Sentosa ( she totally 'deleted' the 3 boys who went). At first, I waited for Sara at the closest bus-stop, then we took a train to Harbourfront then we took a cable car to Sentosa. Next we took a bus to Siloso beach. At the entrance of Siloso beach stood Qi Hui and Qi Ying. After we got our tickets, I saw the 'Port of Wonder' that was next to Siloso beach. We played all different kinds of games such as Virus, Hide and Seek and catching. There was a green and blue slide that was very curly and fun. After that I saw some sand and thought it was the beach but it wasn't. The beach was beside those piles of sand. (????? Actually it was outside the fenced area) After we played for a little while longer, we wanted to go the beach outside but the door was locked! So we had to climb through the big holes on the walls. Over there, we had a sandcastle building competition. The person with the biggest sandcastle wins! I tried to make my sandcastle like cement so that it won't collapse. The others had other ideas. After that our mothers asked us to go home and I was very sad. I wish I could go again. After that we took the cable car, the train and the bus back home. What a happy day!

Why my mother gave me the name Meryl
My mother named me Meryl because she read a storybook called Belgariad and inside that book, there is a princess called Meryl. My mother knows a famous and talented actress called Meryl Strip (Streep). She says that it means bright sea.
My Chines name 'Yi' means to be alert and attentive. 'Xuan' means precious jade. I love my name!

The day at the Ice Rink
During the holidays, my mother brought me and my brother to the Ice Rink and ice-skate. I went with my friends, Qi Hui and Qi Ying. We had lunch first then we went to queue for the skating shoes. In the Ice Rink, Qi Hui skated one hundred and ten times ( I think she meant rounds) and Qi Ying skated one hundred and five times. I only skated a few rounds because i kept on falling down. My brother skated more rounds than me but lesser than Qi Hui and Qi Ying. My mother skated very well too! She told me that it is like roller-blading,. I found it very fun! I saw a boy who skidded on the ice and made a big snow mountain. After that we went home.

What I did during y June Holidays
During my June holidays, I went to the Hong Wen School camp and it was very fun. At first, we had to do our registration, then we were organised into groups. My group was Team 1 and our leader was Wei Jie. Next we played games such as 'Whose thumb is the longest', racing and scissors, paper, stone. For the racing, we had to do crab walk and see who was the fastest. For the scissors, paper, stone, the loser has to go behind the winner. Next we had our snacks.. We ate some animals biscuits and drank some Milo. It was very yummy. After that, we went to pitch our tent. I did not know how to pitch it but I helped to hold the poles. Then we made a banner. Violet helped us draw, the others and I did the coloring. Our banner was Ironman.
Next we went for lunch. For lunch we had bee hoon. I could not finish it because it was quite a lot. After that we played the game 'Three Little Pif'. Uncle Daniel, our camp master gave us a packet of straws. We had to make a structure that is strong enough to hold two tennis balls. Our structure failed to hold onto the tennis balls and even tumbled down before the other team blew it. Then we did the origami. We made a samurai hat, a pop gun and a windmill. Next we had our tea break again.
Now I've come to the most interesting part. It was time to play the 'Wild, Wild Wet! We played different kinds of games such as ' Pass the water bomb', water gun and water bombing. After that we washed up and then ate dinner. The dinner was delicious. Next we went to practice our campfire songs such as 'Chikalaka Yell', 'There was a stream', 'Campfire's Burning' and 'Flea Fly'.
After that we did our performance preparation. Our act was about Ironman. Next we did 'Dare to Dream' at the basketball court. There, we needed to go to three stations. After that we had our night snack. I didn't eat any of them. Then before we went to bed, we brushed our teeth and changed and went back to the tents. We couldn't sleep because it was so hot in the tent. So we played Simon says before we slept. At that time, it was so late. So we couldn't wake up in the morning.
The next morning, I woke up, brushed my teeth and changed. Next we did our morning exercise. We did some warm-ups and ran a few laps. Everyone was hungry except my brother and I. After that, we did the SOC that stands for 'Standard Obstacle Course'. At first, we had to skip the rope twenty times, then we also needed to walk on newspapers and use our nose or our head to push the balls. Then we had our lunch. For lunch we had fried rice. It was so yummy that I took another serving! After that we watched a movie called 'Game Plan'. It had many meanings. The we did the 'Cooking Pa-pa'. We made a mini sandwich using ingredients that we bought. Then we did the performance practice. Next we had our dinner. I was hoping I could eat the fried rice and so I ate it.
After that we did the campfire. At the campfire, we sang songs, played games and did our performances. I was very fun! We did very well for the performance.The we gave prizes to the best team, then went home.

My Dream Holiday
My dream holiday is to go to Hokkaido in Japan one day to visit their beautiful farms and ski on the snowy white mountains. I want to go there because it is very beautiful and everything there is so fresh. The farms are beautiful and the mountains are very fresh. I also like it because it is very cold there. I also have been longing to go Japan.

My Experience at Ifly
Two weeks ago, my family brought my brother and I to Ifly. It was my brother's birthday present from my mummy. First we went into two rooms and watched some videos, then we got changed. Each of us wore helmets, earplugs, a suit and goggles. When it was our turn, we stepped inside the wind tunnel. At first, we didn't fly up so high but the third time we tried, it was very high. Outside the tunnel, there were four small tvs. I could see a video of me flying! I felt very happy!
